Many people who have made a pilgrimage to Medjugorje have reported being able to gaze at the sun and see a wondrous event.
One such person has described this event as follows:
"When I look at the sun I see another celestial body that almost totally eclipses it. What I see is an annular eclipse in which a thin outer rim of the sun's disk is not obscured. The eclipse does not reduce the amount of light generated by the sun. It acts more like a protective filter. The sky is as bright as it would be without an eclipse. The area of sky immediately surrounding the sun is as intensely bright and yellow as it would be without an eclipse. Beyond that area, the sky is as blue as it would normally appear. However, as I continue to gaze at the eclipse the intensely bright yellow radiance immediately surrounding the sun dissipates and that area becomes as blue as the rest of the sky. At first sight, before the intensely bright yellow radiance immediately surrounding the sun dissipates, this celestial body appears to be very dark. This is due to the contrast between it and the brilliant background. As soon as the brilliance dissipates, the celestial body is revealed to have a light grayish color and resembles the Holy Eucharist.”
The following is worthy of reflection:
It is certainly possible that this is of divine origin. That it may be a miracle of the Son - not the sun. That it may be a sign of Jesus’ perpetual presence among us. That it may represent the miracle of His Sacred Heart, which is here on earth in the Most Blessed Sacrament. [Tests conducted on the Blessed Sacrament at Lanciano, which visibly changed into flesh following the words of consecration, revealed that the flesh consists of the muscular tissue of a human heart.] Or that it may represent Our Blessed Mother as the dawn, which is preparing the birth of the brilliant sun of Christ - the Woman clothed with the sun. Or that it may be representative of both Mary and Jesus. [ Many beautiful meditations have been written regarding the devotion to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary and of their inseparableness.]
Our Blessed Mother communicated to Fr. Gobbi "My Immaculate Heart is the way which leads you to his reign. In fact, the triumph of my Immaculate Heart will coincide with the triumph of my Son, Jesus, in his glorious reign of holiness and grace, of love and of justice, of mercy and of peace, which will be established in the whole world." At a later date She communicated "Because in the Eucharist Jesus Christ is really present, He remains ever with you and this presence of his will become increasingly stronger, will shine over the earth like a sun and will mark the beginning of a new era. The coming of the glorious reign of Christ will coincide with the greatest splendor of the Eucharist." So She tells us that the triumph of Her Immaculate Heart and the glorious reign of Jesus and the greatest splendor of the Eucharist will occupy the same place in space or time. Many beautiful meditations have been written regarding the devotion to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary and of their inseparableness. Her words "..this presence will become increasingly stronger" may confirm that we are in the midst, although not yet the conclusion, of the Triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart.
The following are messages of Our Blessed Mother to Father Gobbi recorded in ‘To The Priests Our Lady's Beloved Sons’.
#25 j, November 1, 1973:
"...They must begin again to pray more, to love Jesus more, to adore Him more in the mystery of the Eucharist, so that He becomes the Sun which illuminates their whole life. What a joy and what a gift of love will Jesus in the Eucharist communicate to these faithful who are consecrated to me!"
#137 b-1, October 13, 1977:
"Today you recall with joy the sign which, sixty years ago, I gave in this place chosen by me to manifest myself. You call it the miracle of the sun. Yes, children, even the sun, like all creation, obeys the laws established by its Creator. But sometimes it can act otherwise when God requires this... Through this miracle, I have desired to indicate to you that my victory will consist in leading men back to a docile obedience to the will of God... But the greatest victory of my motherly and Immaculate Heart will be to cause Jesus to shine in the souls of all my children...
And so the miracle of the sun, which took place here was but a sign. The eyes of those present perceived this extraordinary phenomenon which caused many to believe in the action of your Mother whose duty it is to set burning in the hearts of all men the light of Jesus, the true Sun of the world."
#355 k, June 7, 1987:
“I am the dawn which is arising to announce the arrival of the brilliant Sun of Christ."
#360 v, August 21, 1987:
“Because in the Eucharist Jesus Christ is really present, He remains ever with you and this presence of his will become increasingly stronger, will shine over the earth like a sun and will mark the beginning of a new era. The coming of the glorious reign of Christ will coincide with the greatest splendor of the Eucharist.”
#369 i, December 24, 1987:
"...I want again to repeat to all: I am the dawn which is preparing the birth of the brilliant sun of Christ."
#370 g, December 31, 1987:
"Finally, in your time, there are occurring great signs in the sun, on the moon and in the stars. The miracle of the sun, which took place at Fatima was a sign which I gave to you to warn you that the times of these extraordinary phenomena which are taking place in the heavens have now arrived. And how many times during my present apparitions have you yourselves been able to contemplate the great prodigies that are taking place in the sun."
#387 m-n, August 31, 1988:
"The coming of the glorious reign of Christ will coincide with the triumph of the Eucharistic Reign of Jesus. Love Jesus, imitate Him, walk along the road of disdain for the world and for yourselves. Let the light of Christ be the only light, which illumines you, under the gaze of my motherly and merciful eyes, at the moment when you live through the great tribulation.
My light, as a dawn, which is arising, is spreading from the East and becoming ever stronger, until it covers the whole world.
Leave this cenacle with the light of Christ and of your Immaculate Mother and go to lighten up the earth, in these days of profound darkness."
#388 l, September 11, 1988:
"...Only in this way will you be able to illuminate the earth, with the Sun of divine love, who will in the end succeed in driving away all darkness, so that the new era of the civilization of love will at last be able to shine forth resplendently upon the world."
#458 a-m, October 13, 1991:
"...I am the Woman clothed with the sun.
I am the great sign, which appears in heaven.
Today you are calling to mind my last apparition, which took place in Fatima in the Cova da Iria, and which was confirmed by the miracle of the sun. This miracle shows you in an extraordinary way, that I am the Woman clothed with the sun...
Today, I am inviting you to look to me, as to the great sign which is appearing in heaven, in order to live in trust and in serenity, as you are enlightened by my own light and signed by my motherly seal."
#505 j-k, November 21, 1993:
"The glorious reign of Christ will coincide with the triumph of the eucharistic reign of Jesus, because in a purified and sanctified world, completely renewed by Love, Jesus will be made manifest above all in the mystery of his eucharistic presence.
The Eucharist will be the source from which will burst forth all his divine power, and it will become the new sun, which will shed its bright rays in hearts and souls, and then in the life of individuals, families, and nations, making of all one single flock, docile and meek, whose sole Shepherd will be Jesus."
In 'Blessed Be Christ The King a Meditation on the Immaculate Conception' Saint Padre Pio says of the Virgin Mary and Jesus:
"...She will be the sure guide who will direct our steps toward the Divine Sun which is Jesus Christ...
All is darkness compared to the pure light that renews all creation through Him Whom she bore in her womb, as the dew on the rose."
